Unfired pinch pots, pinched dish forms and sculpted heads. Grogged buff clay. Polished and sponged finishes. Exploring light and shadows, relationships between forms. Forms mostly derived from finding satisfying shapes within my hands and fingers.
Exploring throwing for the first time. Tried throwing wild beach clay but found it far too slippery and soft. Will let some dry a little before trying again. l. Used buff grogged, buff smooth and terracotta bodies. Had a go at centring and throwing what shape I could. Left for three days, then explored trimming on the wheel. I thought that the forms still a little too soft for trimming, but I am pleased with the results. Found that I prefer to see the finger marks on the surface than a cleaned, trimmed finish.
